Skiing and boarding

Niseko is regarded as one of Japan’s premier ski resorts due to both the amount and the quality of powder snow falling throughout the season. Niseko, in the last few years, has launched itself onto the international scene, fast becoming recognised as one of the most popular winter destinations in the world.

With wide open courses (the longest being 5.6km), numerous tree runs, backcountry, off-piste, first tracks and night-skiing options, Niseko caters for all levels from beginner to expert. From wide, soft groomed runs for first timers, through to the thrill of dropping off the summit into fresh powder, the experience of Niseko will last you a lifetime.

An extensive lift system covers 64 courses, including gondolas and covered chairlifts. With the lifts meeting at the summit, skiers have access to the mammoth terrain of Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Higashiyama and Annupuri resorts which combine to make Niseko United. There is quality beginner terrain at the base for learner skiers, excellent powder stashes throughout the area and the thrilling “Peak” challenges for advanced skiers.

For those new to the area or new to skiing, a number of local outdoor activity centres offer ski and snowboard lessons and provide English-speaking guides.

Night skiing is very popular here, offering the largest night skiing terrain in the world, including tree runs; an opportunity to experience fresh powder at night shouldn't be missed.
